Detoxification Story
When I grew up, Shredded
Wheat cereal was the fiber of choice, and bowel movements every four
days were considered the norm.
As a kid, one of my vivid memories is that whenever
one of us kids was constipated out came: cod liver oil, laxatives or an enema!
Perhaps our choices of cleansing were not the best, but it was done sometimes
monthly and most definitely on an annual occasion at our home.

Did we think of drinking water? No. Did we think of eating
raw foods? No. We followed the protocols which were popular at that time.
Despite the cleansing techniques I learned during my
childhood, I was always fascinated with the inside of my body — wondering
where all the parts were and what they do — therefore I continued my
quest for information. So, in my early adult years, when books about the body
and how it could be cleansed would come my way I leapt at the chance to devour
their contents.
I started reading some of the great authors who wrote about
about fasting and cleansing, and connected with the idea of cleansing with the
support of juicing, herbal tinctures, fiber-rich and green foods.
Later, while being trained in nutrition at Institute for
Educational Therapy (IET, now known as Bauman College,) I met a woman with a
great deal of knowledge who had healed herself from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
through an intense cleansing program. This captured my attention and I knew
that cleansing of the body was going to be my specialty.
During my two years of education at IET, a professor
conducting a lecture about disease illustrated the connection between what is
going on in our bodies and our environment. I then clearly understood that our
bodies are a reflection of what is going on in our environment. This was a
pivotal movement in my movement toward taking a holistic, natural approach to
detoxification.
In exploring this simple awareness (epiphany actually,) of
the parallels between one’s outer and one’s inner environment, I
began to see the connection of the importance to clean the body up . . . inside
and out. With my newfound knowledge, I began looking into the different ways
that the body can be cleansed. Most importantly, I made a commitment to the
seasonal cleansing of my body. As a result, I experience a healthy life.
My work as a Colon Hydrotherapist has given me a new level
of connecting with the body, and allows me to work with people
both as a Nutritionist and a Colon Hydrotherapist
in the pursuit of renewed and rejuvenated health.
